A Ray Mears trained instructor will guide you through surviving in the wild with hands-on practices in shelter building, fire starting and more. Back to Basics is a rewarding challenge that refreshes important skills and brings us closer to nature. 
The course will last 3 days based in the Forest of Dean in South Wales. The following areas will be covered during programme: Shelters Learn to make different types of natural shelters and sleep in them! Be self-reliant and work with other people effectively. Fire Make fire by friction, flint and steel, char cloth and learn, most importantly, where to site the fire, put out the fire correctly and how to leave the site. Cordage Make some cordage from bark and learn the knots to safely put up hammocks and shelters. Food Prepare and steam a fish over hot coals. Plants and Roots: can you identify what is safe to eat? Water Learn how to purify water effectively. Make a gypsy well; collect and purify the water and make some nettle or rosehip tea! Tracking Observe your surroundings, look at things differently and follow a trail set by your friends.
