We have a set of Activity Operating Procedures and Safety Regulations which aim to encompass and better, where possible, the regulations set out in the following documents:- - The Adventure Activities Licensing Regualtions 1996
- Activities Centers (Young Persons Safety) Act 1995
- Health and Safety of Pupils on Education Visits (HASPEV)
- Institute of Outdoor Learning's Code of Professional Conduct and Environmental Sustainability Policy
We are licenced by the Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority, as all providers of adventurous activities for young people must be, and consequently audited for our safety proceedures by a highly qualified external authority on a regular basis. In particular, our safety policies concentrate on the following:- Child Protection is top on our list of priorities and we have a qualified Child Protection advisor within the Take Footsteps team. Risk Assessments are always carried out prior to a course. Instructors are all First Aid qualified and have current Enhanced Disclosures from the Criminal Records Bureau. They are also required to hold specific National Governing Body qualifications in order to run adventurous activities, as detailed by AALA. Insurance: Take Footsteps has specialist insurance for carrying out adventurous activites with children.
